Karns is in northwest Knox County along Oak Ridge Highway, between Hardin Valley, Powell, and Oak Ridge. It’s grown fast: older homes on larger lots sit near subdivisions built in the 1990s, 2000s, and later — and many of the newer homes now have builder-grade siding and windows at, or past, the point where they start to fail.
North Knox Siding & Windows has been a family-owned Knoxville exterior contractor since 1996. Our headquarters on Katherine Ave is on Knoxville’s northwest side, a short drive from Karns, and our showroom (by appointment) is at 5618 N. Broadway St. in Fountain City. We’ll come out, measure, and leave you with a written, itemized quote.
What we do most for Karns homes
Replacing builder-grade siding
Thin builder vinyl tends to fade, crack, and wave after years of East Tennessee sun. We tear it off, inspect and repair the sheathing, install new house wrap with flashed openings, and install:
- Premium or insulated vinyl that’s stiffer and straighter than what came on the house
- James Hardie fiber cement for a heavier board with a crisp look and better fire and insect resistance
- LP SmartSide for a wood-look option
Mixing materials — Hardie board-and-batten gables over lap siding, or shake accents — is a popular way to update a subdivision home.
Replacement windows
First-generation vinyl windows often fog between the panes, let in drafts, and get hard to open. We measure every opening ourselves and install energy-efficient replacement windows that suit Knoxville’s humid summers and cold snaps.
Gutters and downspouts
Karns’ rolling terrain and clay soils mean runoff matters. We install seamless gutters sized to the roof, add downspouts where corners overflow, and route water away from foundations and walkways.
Roofing and doors
Roof replacement and entry and patio doors are available too.
