Vinyl is still the most popular siding choice in Knox County, and for good reason: it never needs paint, cleans up with a garden hose, and comes in more colors and profiles than ever. But vinyl only looks good and lasts when it’s installed correctly. Poorly hung vinyl buckles in the July sun, rattles in the wind, and lets water get behind it.
North Knox Siding & Windows has installed vinyl siding across Knoxville since 1996 — Michael Smith started the company after learning to hang vinyl himself. We’re still family-owned, our own crews still do the work, and every job is backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty. We’re a VSI Certified Installer (Vinyl Siding Institute) and a Cornerstone Building Brands Premier Contractor.
Built for Knoxville’s climate
- Heat and sun. Vinyl expands as it warms, so panels must be nailed loosely enough to move. Nail it too tight and you get waves and buckling on south- and west-facing walls.
- Temperature swings. Cold snaps stiffen and shrink vinyl. Proper overlaps and gaps at trim keep seams tight year-round.
- Humidity and storms. Siding is the rain screen, not the waterproof layer. Behind every North Knox vinyl job is new house wrap with flashed windows and doors, so water that gets behind the panels drains out instead of soaking the wall.
- Wind. We follow the manufacturer’s fastening schedule and use the right accessories so panels stay locked in during summer thunderstorms.
Vinyl options we install
- Standard and premium lap profiles — Dutch lap, clapboard, and beaded styles in different panel thicknesses. Thicker panels resist wind and look straighter on long walls.
- Insulated vinyl — panels with a foam backing that stiffens the wall.
- Board-and-batten, shakes, and scallops for gables, dormers, and farmhouse-style accents.
- Soffit, fascia, and trim — vented vinyl soffit and aluminum fascia wraps so you never paint the eaves again.
We install major vinyl lines including Royal Building Products, Alside, Mastic, and Variform.
